Low loss, phase stable flexible microwave cable assemblies are fabricated using Insulated Wire Inc. cables and are manufactured to some of the highest specifications available in the industry. Available in a variety of sizes and performance specs, cables can be armoured internally or externally.

RG Style Cables

The designation RG originates from old, obsolete military specs and ‘RG’ stands for radio guide. The numbering system is random and the specs themselves may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.

RG cables are extremely diverse in terms of size and performance.

Semi Rigid Cables

Cables are made using a solid metal outer conductor (usually copper or aluminium) which can be bent into shape as required. Generally, overall performance figures are improved using a solid outer conductor. Available in 0.047”, 0.085”, 0.141” and 0.250” diameter although other sizes are available on request.

Triaxial Cables

Triaxial cables were developed primarily to reduce noise levels in systems along with providing an isolated ground.

Used extensively in medical applications such as radiation detection and dosimetry as well as broadcast applications, Triaxial (or Triax) cable provides greater bandwidth and interference protection than Coaxial cable.

Semi Flexible Cables

A lighter, more flexible alternative to semi rigid which enables cable to be flexed. Although there is a slightly reduced performance compared with semi rigid, it benefits from being able to use standard semi rigid cable connectors. Available in .085” and .141”

LMR Style Cables

LMR is a range of cables manufactured by Times Microwave. LMR cable is relatively low loss high performance cable used in applications where (eg) RG cables are unsuitable.There are a large variety of LMR cables.

Conformable Cables

Conformable or hand formable cable is designed for applications that require cable to be formed at the time of installation without the need for bending tools. Comprising of a tin soaked copper braid, the cable stays in place after bending, it benefits from being able to use standard semi-rigid cable connectors.

There is no major degradation of electrical performance when cable is formed into shape.
