A 90 degree hybrid coupler is a four-port device that is used either to equally split an input signal into two paths with a 90 degree phase shift between them or to combine two signals while maintaining high isolation between them. APC RF & Microwave’s RF hybrid couplers, from leading manufacturer IPP, offer low insertion loss, low VSWR and high power capability in a small package.

These products are available in narrow and broadband bandwidths making them ideal for applications including, power amplifier, mixers, power dividers/ combiners, modulators, antenna feeds, attenuators, switches and phase shifters. Frequency range is from 20 MHz to 12.0 GHz in power levels up to 1500 watts CW. IPP 90 degree hybrid couplers are available in surface mount with tabs for drop in or connectors.

Surface Mount 90 Degree Hybrid Couplers

Our surface mount 90 degree hybrid couplers are laminated multi-layer structures designed for mounting on top of the PC board. This technology utilises plated through via holes underneath the coupler to transfer the heat and establish ground when soldered to the PC board. The RF connections are on the four corners and they are connected by soldering them to the RF traces on the PC board. RoHS compliant devices and tape and reel are available.

Our surface mount 90 degree hybrid coupler line offer low insertion loss, low VSWR and high power capability in a small package. These products are available in narrow and broadband bandwidths making them ideal for power amplifiers, power combiners/dividers, modulators antenna feeds, attenuators, switches, and phase shifter applications. Frequency range is from 30 MHz to 12,000 MHz in power levels up to 300 watts.

Drop-In 90 Degree Hybrid Couplers

IPP’s drop-in packages are designed to be screw down mounted directly to a heat sink. The RF connections are four tabs which are to be soldered down to the RF traces on the PCB. Our drop-in 90 degree coupler line offers low insertion loss, low VSWR and high power capability in a small package. ROHS compliant devices are available.

Impedance Transforming 90 Degree Hybrid Couplers

Unlike the typical quadrature hybrid which has the same impedance at all four ports, this new patented design provides input and isolation ports at 50 Ohms and the -3dB ports at an impedance other than 50 Ohms, for example 25 Ohms. The impedance transformation takes place inside the coupler, thus allowing it to be used in mixed impedance systems. This impedance transforming coupler is ideal for splitting and combining of mimics which may have input or output impedances other than 50 Ohms.

Connectorised 90 Degree Hybrid Couplers

Most of our drop-in and surface mount style 90 degree hybrid couplers are offered with connectors. Depending upon the power these couplers are available with SMA, N, TNC, 7/16 connectors. Other connector types available upon request.
