Over-the-air LTE TDD measurements added to the Keysight FieldFox application family
Time Division Duplexing (TDD) and Frequency Division Duplexing (FDD) co-exist in the LTE world. Each has its own technical merits and limitations. FieldFox analysers option 370 (OTA LTE FDD measurement app), introduced last year, enables customers to make OTA LTE FDD measurements.
Now, the new option 371 (OTA LTE TDD measurement app) further adds to the FieldFox analysers capability with the ability to demodulate the LTE TDD signals providing insights to available cells with physical cell ID (PCI) on any given frequency, or the component carrier. This measurement allows engineers to see if any additional cells are available to use, thereby addressing the common problem of finding missing neighbours. In addition to single carrier multicell measurements, Keysight’s FieldFox handheld analysers also display the strongest cell on different component carriers (up to a maximum of 6 cells, if present). This greatly expedites the process to find out which frequencies are the best for any given location and optimises inter-frequency handover.

By utilising LTE FDD OTA and now LTE TDD OTA measurements, the Fieldfox range is capable of measuring and decoding cell ID, RSRP, RSRQ, RSSI, PSS, SSS, SINR and frequency error. The new option 371 is available on the following FieldFox models by a license key only upgrade, available directly from APC as a Keysight Premium Partner.
