Holt Inc launch new lightning protected drop-in for ARINC 429 IC

Available in the UK from APC Hi-Rel, Holt Integrated Circuits today released a new ARINC 429 protocol IC, HI-35930, which provides a lightning-protected drop-in for existing HI-3593 designs.

Dual line receivers meet the lightning requirements of specification RTCA/DO160G Section 22 Level 3 Pin Injection Test Waveforms without the need for any external components. Aside from the addition of lightning protection, the device is identical to HI-3593, featuring a SPI host interface, integrated line driver and on-board DC/DC converter for single-supply 3.3V operation.

This new device enables customers to add lightning protection to existing HI-3593 designs with a minimum of expense or re-qualification,” said Anthony Murray, Director of Marketing Communications at Holt Integrated Circuits. “Software compatibility with the previous device may also be leveraged in new lightning-protected designs.

Other device variants include digital-only options for use with external line receivers and line driver. These devices may be utilised for higher rated levels of lightning protection or isolation. For example HI-35933  enables galvanic isolation utilising external Holt line receivers (HI-8460) )and lightning protection on the transmitter using an external Holt lightning-protected line driver, HI-8597.
